Celebrate the coming of spring at a performance by the Missouri University of Science and Technology Jazz Ensemble.
The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main streets in Rolla. David Cress, assistant teaching professor in arts, languages, and philosophy, will conduct the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo.
The S&T Jazz Combo will also give a pre-concert performance at 6:30 p.m. that night.
The Jazz Ensemble will perform music made popular by Michael Buble, Ashley Alexander, Bobby Timmons, George Duke, Michael Philip Mossman and Gordon Goodwin. The concert will feature vocal performances by S&T students Ian Ramsey, a senior in physics from Rolla, Elyse Carter, a senior in architectural engineering from St. Louis, and Carol Pint, a senior in biological sciences from Evanston, Illinois. During the concert, there will be a special performance of Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano” featuring graduating senior Kaitlyn Satterfield, a senior in architectural engineering from Mattoon, Illinois.
Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for S&T students who present a valid I.D., and youth age 18 or younger. Tickets can be purchased 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Leach Theatre Box Office located in the vestibule of the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street, or by calling 573-341-4219.
