Missouri University of Science and Technology students seeking a full-time job after graduation or a co-op or internship for the semester will have an opportunity to meet with employers at the 2016 Spring Career Fair. Over 210 companies are registered to attend the event.
“The Career Fair is one of our largest networking events that we hold each year,” says Dr. Edna Grover-Bisker, director of career opportunities and employer relations (COER) at Missouri S&T. “Students go to the fair to meet with potential employers and talk with them about open positions — they don’t go there to get a job. Contrary to popular belief, they still have to apply and interview. This is just an opportunity to further develop a relationship with a company’s representatives.”
Career fairs are held during the fall and spring semesters at Missouri S&T, but employers visit the campus year-round for interviews. This semester, 98 rooms have been reserved for on-campus interviews. A total of 329 different employers are recruiting from Missouri S&T this spring and 718 jobs have already been posted online by COER. Multiple positions may be included in one job posting.
Over 1,000 Missouri S&T students looking for full-time employment, co-ops and internships are registered with COER. The average starting salary for undergraduates with Missouri S&T degrees is over $63,000. The average starting salary for graduate students is over $75,000.
The career fair is open to Missouri S&T students and alumni between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16. Faculty and staff are allowed to attend 8-9 a.m. or 2-3 p.m. For more information, contact COER at Missouri S&T at 573-341-6170 or career@mst.edu.
