Missouri S&T leaves ASEE conference with awards

Missouri University of Science and Technology faculty and students were honored during the 2014 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Midwest Conference.

Dr. Rohit Dua, assistant teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering at S&T, was recognized as the incoming Midwest section chair.

Mason Marshall and Benjamin Miller, both seniors in electrical engineering from Springfield, Missouri, earned third place in Outstanding Undergraduate Poster Award for Poster Paper for work titled “Basic Digital Logic Gates Emulator: A Learning Tool for Kids and Adults.” Dua is their advisor.

Amardeep Kaur, a graduate student in electrical engineering from Punjab, India, earned third place in Outstanding Graduate Student Poster Award for Poster Paper for work titled “Extrinsic Fabry-Perot Interferometer Length Optimization.” Dr. Steve Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering at S&T, and Dr. Hai Xiao, adjunct professor of electrical and computer engineering at S&T, are her advisors.

Missouri S&T earned the Faculty-Mile Award for attendance at the conference, which was held Sept. 24-26 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Missouri S&T and the ASEE Midwest section will host the 2015 Zone III Conference Sept. 23-25, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Christi Patton Luks, associate teaching professor of chemical and biochemical engineering at S&T, will serve as conference chair. The Midwest section of the ASEE includes Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. ASEE Zone III includes the Midwest Section, the Gulf Southwest Section and the North Midwest Section.
