The local community is invited to participate in a 5K run/walk through the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus on Saturday, Oct. 18, as part of Missouri S&T’s Homecoming celebrations.

The Miner 5K will begin at 10 a.m. from the Kummer Student Design Center’s parking lot Q, located at the corner of 10th St. and Spring Ave. in Rolla. Registration for those who sign up by Monday, Sept. 15, is $20, which includes a free T-shirt. Racers who register after this date will pay $25 and are not guaranteed a race shirt.

To register for the 5K, visit http://Miner5K.itsyourrace.com/ and click “Register Now.” Registration will also be accepted the day of the race starting at 9:15 a.m.

This year’s Homecoming theme is The Wizardly World of Miners, based on the Harry Potter series. Numerous other activities are planned for Homecoming weekend, Oct. 17-19. Many are open to the public.
