Missouri S&T students become Knights of St. Patrick

The Student Knights of St. Patrick have been selected to represent Missouri University of Science and Technology’s student organizations during the 106th St. Pat’s celebration in Rolla.

The students will be knighted during a coronation ceremony at 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall on the Missouri S&T campus. There are 32 knights for 2014.

The practice of knighting students every spring can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Missouri S&T engineering students declared St. Patrick the patron saint of engineers.

The 2014 Knights of St. Patrick are:

Matthew Callaway, a senior in metallurgical engineering from Jefferson City, Mo., representing Lambda Chi Alpha

Heather Carman, a senior in psychology from Rolla, Mo., representing Delta Omicron Lambda

Timothy Chapman, a senior in computer engineering from Marble Hill, Mo., representing Tau Kappa Epsilon

Brynne Coleman, a senior in aerospace engineering from Fairfax, Va., representing the Thomas Jefferson Hall Association

Brittany Davis, a senior in ceramic engineering from Waterloo, Iowa, representing Zeta Tau Alpha
