The local community is invited to discover their magical abilities at the second annual “Harry Potter: A Day at Hogwarts” event at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
The event, hosted by the Missouri S&T Ballet and Dance Club, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, on the Havener Center lawn. A Day at Hogwarts is open to the public. Admission to the event is $5.
This family-friendly event will have numerous activities throughout the day. Attendees can practice for Halloween by dressing as a witch or wizard and enter the costume contest, fly on brooms as they play “Quidditch for Muggles,” attend the chemistry display at noon to learn real magic and play wizard trivia.
Attendees can also have their photo taken dressed as a witch or wizard, play and learn chess from the S&T Chess Club and eat lunch at the “Honeyduke’s Bake Sale” featuring food known throughout the Harry Potter universe.
“Our past club president thought of the idea after visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando,” says Kailea Tilden, a junior in biological sciences from Springfield, Mo., and the Ballet and Dance Club president. “This is our second year putting the event on, we hope that everyone comes out and has a fun time.”
“Harry Potter: A Day at Hogwarts” is sponsored by Missouri S&T’s Ballet and Dance Club, American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Chess Club and Photography Club. For more information about the event, email mstballet@gmail.com.
