University students and community members who are musicians are invited to join the University and Community Symphony Orchestra at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The orchestra hopes to bolster its ranks this season and would welcome new talents.

Those interested in joining are invited to visit the orchestra’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Room 137 Castleman Hall.

Those who play stringed instruments, in particular cellists and violinists, are invited to join the orchestra without an audition. High-school-age string players are invited to audition for membership. Also invited to audition are percussionists and wind players, in particular trombone players. Practices are from 7-9:30 p.m. on Mondays.

This year, the orchestra performances will include Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 6, Pathetique,” Schubert’s “Marche Militaire” and Thomas Sleeper’s “Hanna’s Day Out.” Join the group and perform these and other selections on the Leach Theatre stage.
