Gao honored by peers

Dr. Stephen Gao, professor of geophysics at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been elected a fellow of the Geological Society of America for his contributions to the study of continental rifts.


Gao has published research articles in numerous journals, including Nature and Science.

Gao earned a Ph.D. in geophysics and space physics from the University of California-Los Angeles. He previously studied at China University of Oceanography. Prior to coming to Missouri S&T, he was on the faculty at Kansas State University.

This summer Gao and colleagues are continuing research on continental rifts in East Africa.
