To better represent the services it provides to employers as well as students, the Career Opportunities Center at Missouri University of Science and Technology will take on a new name in the new year.

Employer services provided by Career Opportunities and Employer Relations at Missouri S&T include coordinating special events for employers, such as Boeing Day. This photo is from the fall 2010 Boeing Day event on campus.

Effective Jan. 1, 2011, the Career Opportunities Center will become Career Opportunities and Employer Relations (COER).

“Our new name is more reflective of the scope of services we provide,” says Dr. Lea-Ann Morton, director of the department. “Our department is well-known on campus for serving as a resource for students as they prepare to enter the work force. What is not so well-known is that we also provide services for employers beyond the typical career fair and on-campus interviews for full-time positions, cooperative education or internships.”

Employer services provided by Morton and her staff include scheduling the employer seminar series, providing expert advice on employer branding on-campus, managing employer days or weeks, maintaining key school status, and identifying partnership and reciprocity opportunities. Morton and her staff also provide employers with opportunities and direction on how to participate in on-campus activities such as workshops and seminars for students, access to department chairs and administration, and partnership programs.

The department’s website address will remain the same: career.mst.edu. For more information about career opportunities and employer relations, contact the department at career@mst.edu or call 573-341-4343.
