The fourth season of the Family Film Series at Missouri University of
Science and Technology will offer a screening of the Paramount Pictures film,
“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” based on the book by Roald Dahl. The
film will be shown at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in Leach Theatre of Missouri
S&T’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
Gene Wilder stars as the kooky candy manufacturer Willy Wonka along with
Pete Ostrun as likeable lad Charlie Bucket and Jack Albertson as amiable
Grandpa Joe. Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of
his scrumptious candy bars. The winners of the tickets will receive a free tour
of the Wonka factory as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four out of five
children are insufferable brats save for Charlie and in the course of the tour,
Wonka punishes the nastier children in various diabolical methods because they
violated the ethics of Wonka’s factory. In the end, only Charlie and his
grandfather remain.
Lunch and snacks, including pizza and soda, and activities for the kids will
be held in the lobby following the movie. Admission is $2 per person and
tickets will be available at the Leach Theatre Box Office. For more
