GM Day at the University of Missouri-Rolla is set for Wednesday, Sept. 19. Representatives from General Motors Corp. will be on campus to discuss career opportunities with students and accept resumes for full-time, intern and cooperative positions. The GM Performance Division mobile display, GM vehicles, powertrains, OnStar and more will be on display outside the Havener Center on campus.
GM is one of the largest employers of UMR graduates. “We are one of their target schools,” says Lea-Ann Morton, director of UMR’s Career Opportunities Center. “They come here to make their presence known and to attract top students. GM is making a huge investment in UMR.”
In addition to recruiting UMR’s students, GM makes annual donations in support of scholarships, diversity, student design activities, faculty recognition, curriculum development and engineering advances. GM also supports UMR’s Engineers Without Borders chapter and the university’s Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education program (PACE), a corporate effort to encourage the development of engineers, designers and managers who are prepared to enter the work force at a high level of expertise.
GM Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Havener Center. Students with both technical and non-technical majors are encouraged to stop by and talk to GM recruiters.
