The University Symphony Band and Symphonic Winds will host a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The performance is free for students and youths under the age of 18. Tickets are $3 for the general public and are available at the door and at the Leach Theatre Box Office.

“The ensembles will perform a little of everything,” says Dr. Donald Miller, conductor of the groups and assistant professor of music at UMR. “It will be a lot of fun for the audience and performers alike.”

The Symphonic Winds, an audition-only ensemble, will perform “Suite No.1 in E-Flat” by Gustav Holst and “Old Home Days” by Charles Ives.

The Symphony Band, composed of UMR students and members of the Rolla community, will perform three pieces: “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik, “Simple Gifts” by Aaron Copland and “Circus Days” by Karl King.

For more information about the concert, contact the UMR performing arts office at (573) 341-4185.
