Wednesday, Sept. 13, is Unity Day on the University of Missouri-Rolla campus.

Unity Day is held annually at UMR. Students, faculty and staff at UMR show their support of campus unity by wearing ribbons of UMR school colors, silver and gold.

Unity Day events will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the atrium of the Havener Center on the UMR campus. Entertainment will be provided by Fanfare Entertainment of St. Louis, Mo., with country, jazz, rock, R&B, Caribbean and salsa music. There will be presentations and dance performances from several of UMR’s intercultural student organizations, as well as student speakers from India, Turkey, China and Thailand.

Attendees are also invited to dress as a native from a different country. Those with the best cultural outfits and apparel will win prizes.

Unity Day is sponsored by UMR Chancellor Jack Carney, the offices of student life and cultural programs at UMR, and UMR Student Council. For more information on Unity Day, contact Kandy Elder, administrator of UMR cultural programs, at 573-341-7981.
