Rehearsals for the Rolla Town Band will begin on Tuesday, June 6, and the group is seeking performers, says Dr. Don Miller, assistant professor of music and director of the group.
Rehearsals will be held from 7-8:15 p.m. “or until our chops get tired,” Miller says, every Tuesday and Thursday in June in Room 138 Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
The band is open to musicians age 14 and older. “All ability levels are welcome, especially those who haven’t played in 20 years,” Miller says. “If you need an instrument, come to the first rehearsal and we’ll see what we can do.”
The Rolla Town Band’s first performance is set for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 6, on the UMR Castleman Hall Greens, located at 10th and State streets in Rolla. Future concerts are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11; Friday, July 14; Thursday, July 20; Tuesday, July 25; and Monday, July 31. All concerts will be held on the UMR campus.
Sponsors for the Rolla Town Band include the UMR arts, languages and philosophy department; the World’s Finest Rolla German Band; ArtsRolla!; the city of Rolla parks and recreation department; and Forum Dental.
