Thirteen faculty members in The University of Missouri-Rolla School of Materials, Energy and Earth Resources (SoMEER) received teaching awards during a ceremony on campus April 28.
SoMEER is home to ceramic engineering, metallurgical engineering, geological engineering, petroleum engineering, geology, geophysics, mining engineering and nuclear engineering programs at UMR. The three departments in SoMEER are materials science and engineering, geological sciences and engineering, and mining and nuclear engineering. The dean is Dr. Mariesa Crow.
Dr. Ronald Kohser, professor of materials science and engineering, received the SoMEER Dean’s Teaching Scholar Award. The award is based on nominations from faculty and department chairs.
Dr. John Hogan, associate professor of geological sciences and engineering, and Dr. Jeffrey Smith, associate professor of materials science and engineering, are co-winners of the 2005-2006 SoMEER Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, which is based on nominations from students and faculty.
