The University of Missouri-Rolla Chamber Orchestra and University and Community Orchestra will hold a performance at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
Admission is free for students with a valid student I.D. Tickets for the general public are $3 each and will be available at the Leach Theater Box Office.
The Chamber Orchestra will perform “Little Dance Suite,” by George Philipp Telemann and “Optimism,” a piece written by John Sequin, the electronic resource librarian at UMR’s Curtis Laws Wilson Library.
The University and Community Orchestra will perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Edvard Grieg.
Also in the program is “Academic Festival,” by Johannes Brahms, says Dr. Don Miller, assistant professor of music and director of UMR bands and orchestras. Miller says no college student or professor should miss the performance of this song as it has been described as a ‘very boisterous potpourri of student drinking songs.’
For more information on the performance, contact Miller at (573) 341-4698 or call the UMR performing arts office at (573) 341-4185.
