The department co-sponsored the Jacques Thibaud Trio’s performance. Money raised from the CD sales will benefit the 2006 summer music festival, says Dr. Don Miller, assistant professor of music and director of UMR bands.

Violinist Burkhard Maiss, violist Philip Douvier, and cellist Bogdan Jianu, from Berlin, Germany, met at the Berlin School of Art and formed the trio in 1994. Since then, the group has received tremendous acclaim from audiences and critics in Europe, Japan and North America.

The Berlin Morning Post asked the country’s top 10 music critics to pick their favorites in 2005. “Two critics named String Trios by Mozart, Schubert & Francaix: Live at the Peaceful Bend Vineyard, Missouri as the best from Berlin in 2005,” Miller says.
