Dr. W. Nicholas Knight, professor emeritus of English at the University of Missouri-Rolla, will present a series of lectures on Geoffrey Chaucer during October.
Knight will present a brown-bag lunch from noon-1 p.m. every Monday during October in the Parish Room of Christ Episcopal Church, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. Each will feature a lecture on Geoffrey Chaucer, author of “The Canterbury Tales.” The lectures are free and open to the public.
The following topics will be presented as part of the Chaucer lecture series:
Oct. 3 — Chaucer and his pilgrims.
Oct. 10 — Prologue to the Canterbury Tales
Oct. 17 — “Miller’s Tale” and Noah
Oct. 24 — “Wife of Bath’s Tale” and King Arthur
Oct. 31 — “Pardoner’s Tale” and the sin of greed
Knight, who is also chair of the Missouri Humanities Council, is the author of “Autobiography in Shakespeare’s Plays,” published in 2002.
