Individual tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 12, for the 2005-2006 season of the University of Missouri-Rolla Campus Performing Arts Series. The season opens with a performance of the Broadway musical CATS.
The performance will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets on the UMR campus. Admission is $42 for adults and $28 for students age 18 and younger.
Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS has won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes, since opening at the New London Theatre in 1981.
The longest-running musical in Broadway history, CATS ended its 18-year run on Sept. 10, 2000. But who says cats only have nine lives? In October 1991, CATS became the longest continuously touring show in American theater history.
Bring the whole family to celebrate the magic, the mystery, the wonder of CATS.
The second installment in the UMR Campus Performing Arts Series will be a performance of chamber music by the Kavafian Shifrin Schub Trio at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14.
