Always wanted your own “Indy-style” racing car capable of going from zero to 60 mph in a little more than three seconds? Well, you can bid on the formula car built at the University of Missouri-Rolla for the 2002 Formula SAE competition on eBay.
The car finished 16th overall in the 2002 competition, which featured 130 teams. The production cost of the UMR car, which weighs about 500 pounds, was $25,000. Each year, the UMR Formula Car Team designs and builds a new vehicle for the annual competition in Pontiac, Mich.
The formula car is being listed on eBay as part of a University of Missouri program to realize market value for surplus items from the system’s campuses. Bidding on the 2002 UMR formula car will conclude Aug. 26.
