Students between the ages of 12 and 14 can take a behind-the-scenes look at robots in a summer camp to be held this summer at the University of Missouri-Rolla.
The camp will be held June 15-18 on the UMR campus. Sponsored by the UMR mechanical and aerospace engineering department with the UMR office of distance and continuing education, this three-day camp gives students an opportunity to explore practical applications for math, science and engineering concepts.
Using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System, campers will design, build and program robots while learning the basic structure of computer programming. No robotics experience is required to participate, and all materials will be furnished.
The registration fee for the camp is $350 for students who choose to live in campus residence halls during the program, and $300 for those who commute to the campus daily. Fees cover meals, activities and a camp T-shirt.
The deadline for registration is June 1. Enrollment is limited to the first 45 participants to register.
Applications are available online. For more information or to request an application, contact the UMR office of distance and continuing education at dce.mst.edu or call (573) 341-4442.
