UMR receives four awards from electrical engineering association

The St. Louis Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) presented University of Missouri-Rolla faculty and staff members with four awards during a banquet held Dec. 4 in St. Louis.

"These awards recognize the contributions of our faculty members to this worthy organization," says Dr. Kelvin Erickson, chair of the electrical and computer engineering department at UMR.

The Outstanding Section Member Award was presented to Dr. Ann Miller, the Cynthia Tang Missouri Distinguished Professor of Computer Engineering at UMR and a senior member of IEEE, for her contributions to the section.

Debbie Benenati, administrative assistant in the Engineering Education Center in St. Louis, received a Special Section Award for her work for the section over the past several years.

Dr. Ganesh Venayagamoorthy, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at UMR and a senior member of the IEEE, received the Outstanding Young Engineer Award for his work as the chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Chapter and the IEEE Industry Applications Society Chapter.

In addition, the electrical and computer engineering department at UMR received the Outstanding Company Award for its continuing support to the section.
