Dr. Neil L. Book, associate professor of chemical and biological engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla, has been elected a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

AIChE awards fellowships to members "who have displayed significant service to AIChE and the profession, and who have achieved significant accomplishments" in chemical engineering. Book has been affiliated with AIChE since 1972 and was the contractor for the Process Data Exchange Institute, a consortium of more than 30 chemical companies established within AIChE to create international standards that enable the electronic exchange of chemical industry data. In addition, Book has served as advisor to UMR’s student chapter for five years.

Book joined the UMR chemical and biological engineering department in 1978. His research interests include computer-aided process design, chemical process safety and engineering data management.

Book received a bachelor of science from UMR in 1972 and master of science and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Colorado in 1974 and 1976, respectively. All three degrees were in chemical engineering.
