Missouri S&T’s mine rescue team earns second at national competition

The mine rescue team from Missouri University of Science and Technology earned second place in the novice division of a national simulated mine emergency competition. The novice category is for teams competing at a national event for the first time. The team also earned fifth place in the first aid division.

Students to participate in national mine rescue competition

A mine rescue team from Missouri University of Science and Technology will compete in the 2014 National Metal and Nonmetal Mine Rescue Contest that will be held Aug. 4-7 in Lexington, Kentucky. Students from Missouri S&T and one other university will compete against 36 professional teams.

Best showing ever: UMR students prove they can hang with professional mine rescuers

Two mine rescue teams from the University of Missouri-Rolla competed against about a dozen teams of professionals from the mining industry this week at UMR’s Experimental Mine. UMR’s gold team took third place overall in the competition and UMR’s black team placed fourth.
