Members of the University of Missouri-Rolla marching band will present Miner Mania, a stage show featuring the highlights of the 2003 marching band season, on Thursday, Nov. 13.

Dr. Anne Goodwyn Jones, an expert in women writers of the American South, has been named the fourth Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Professor of Humanities at the University of Missouri-Rolla. She will begin her tenure in UMR’s English department in January 2004.

Two UMR Ph.D. students each received research awards from the Glass and Optical Materials Division of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) during a conference held Oct. 12-15 in Corning, N.Y.

Dr. Ming Leu, the Keith and Pat Bailey Missouri Distinguished Professor of Integrated Product Manufacturing in the University of Missouri-Rolla’s department of mechanical and aerospace engineering, is the new director of the UMR Intelligent Systems Center (ISC). The appointment took effect on Oct. 1.
