Members of the University of Missouri-Rolla marching band will present Miner Mania, a stage show featuring the highlights of the 2003 marching band season, on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The performance will be held at 8 p.m. in Leach Theatre of UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. A minimum donation of $5 is requested for admission. All proceeds raised will go toward the operating costs of the UMR band program.
The group will perform music from all of the shows the UMR marching band presented this year, as well as a medley of the "Sounds of Rehearsals" heard during the group’s outdoor practice sessions. "It will be a night of fun music and great family comedy," says Dr. Don Miller, a lecturer in philosophy and liberal arts at UMR.
Miller serves as director of bands at UMR. "This will be a great night of fun with the UMR Miner Marching Band," Miller says. Other major universities hold performances like these to close the football season and provide a season review, he says. "It’s going to be a lot of fun. The students are planning all sorts of great things."
