S&T historian wins state book award

Dr. Shannon L. Fogg, assistant professor of history and political science at Missouri S&T, recently received the 2009 Missouri Conference on History Book Award. The award is given to the best book on any historical topic written by a Missouri resident published in 2008. Fogg received the award for her book The Politics of Everyday Life in Vichy France: Foreigners, Undesirables, and Strangers.

S&T researcher gets stimulus funds to recycle silicon

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu recently announced the funding of 24 new solar projects as part of the nation’s economic stimulus efforts. One of the projects involves research at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where Dr. Lifeng Zhang is working on methods to recycle silicon wastes generated in the production of solar wafers.
