What’s in your pocket? S&T prof explains fluctuating value of metal in coins

Dr. Ronald Kohser has been keeping a close watch on coins during his career. According to Kohser, a professor of metallurgical engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, it currently costs the U.S. Mint about 1.7 cents to make a penny and around 7 or 8 cents to make a nickel. The amounts include metal content, tools and dies, and labor.

S&T professor to develop Lakota book into stage production

Jeanne Stanley, assistant professor of theater in the arts, languages and philosophy department at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been given permission by Native American author Joseph Marshall III to adapt his book, The Lakota Way, into a stage production. Donations are needed to help fund the project, scheduled to be performed in November.

KMST releases Spring Membership Drive results

3rd grader wins ‘Celebration’ tee contest

Olivia Sidwell, a third-grader at Mark Twain Elementary in Rolla, was this year’s winner of the Celebration of Nations T-shirt Contest. She received a $200 gift card that was donated by the Missouri S&T Bookstore. T-shirts with her design will be available for purchase at the event.
