Two groups of Missouri University of Science and Technology students will spend their spring break working with organizations that deal with hunger and illness, including HIV/AIDS, in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Jeanne Stanley, assistant professor of theater in the arts, languages and philosophy department at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been given permission by Native American author Joseph Marshall III to adapt his book, The Lakota Way, into a stage production. Donations are needed to help fund the project, scheduled to be performed in November.

Three students at Missouri University of Science and Technology recently spent the afternoon helping an employee of the university clean up debris from his barn that was destroyed in the Feb. 29 storm.

Olivia Sidwell, a third-grader at Mark Twain Elementary in Rolla, was this year’s winner of the Celebration of Nations T-shirt Contest. She received a $200 gift card that was donated by the Missouri S&T Bookstore. T-shirts with her design will be available for purchase at the event.
