Missouri S&T to host fall observatory events

Amateur astronomers are invited to observe the skies through the 16-inch telescope at the Missouri S&T Observatory this fall. Weather permitting, the S&T Astronomical Research Society will host free viewings throughout the fall semester.  

Seven upcoming viewings are planned:  

•              Hercules Cluster– 9-11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12  

•              Ring Nebula – 8-11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26  

•              Saturn – 8:20-11:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 

•              Dumbbell Nebula – 8-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24  

•              The Pleiades – 6:45-9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7  

•              Saturn – 6:45-9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. 

•              Uranus – 6:45-9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12.  

These viewings are free and open to the public; no reservation or ticket is required. Children are welcome at the observatory, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors must be able to climb a small set of stairs to reach the telescope.
