U.S. News ranks Missouri S&T as the state’s top public engineering school

U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings for public engineering programs were released today (Tuesday, Sept. 23), and Missouri S&T remains the top school in the state and among the nation’s best. 
 
“From their first semester on campus, students have countless opportunities to take part in hands-on, experiential learning and undergraduate research,” says Dr. David Borrok, vice provost and dean of S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing. “They work closely with world-class faculty and leave with a transformative education that prepares them for amazing careers.” 
 
Missouri S&T remains a top 50 public engineering school, coming in at No. 42. This ranking is for undergraduate engineering programs at schools that offer degrees up to the doctoral level.  
 
The university also tied as the No. 2 public school in the nation for a metric focused on alumni salaries.  
 
Other recent accolades for S&T include being ranked the No. 3 public university in the nation for career placement and No. 5 for internships by Princeton Review
 
Money Magazine also recognized Missouri S&T in its Best Colleges 2025 report, awarding 4.5 stars and including the school in its lists for Best Public Colleges, Best Colleges in the Midwest and Best Colleges with High Acceptance Rates.
