15 S&T faculty members receive tenure, promotions

Fifteen faculty members at Missouri S&T received promotions and/or tenure, effective Sept. 1. Those faculty members are:

  • Dr. Lana Alagha, promoted to professor of mining engineering
  • Julia Alexander, promoted to associate teaching professor of education
  • Dr. Maria Barbosa, promoted to associate professor of arts, languages, and philosophy and granted tenure
  • Dr. Cecil Chua, promoted to professor of business and information technology
  • Dr. Anthony Convertine, promoted to associate professor of materials science and engineering, and granted tenure
  • Dr. Mary Gillis, promoted to associate teaching professor of education
  • Dr. Jie Huang, promoted to professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. DongHyun Kim, promoted to associate professor of electrical and computer engineering and granted tenure
  • Dr. Bih-Ru Lea, promoted to professor of business and information technology
  • Dr. Hongyan Ma, promoted to professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
  • Dr. Jeremy Maurer, promoted to associate professor of earth sciences and engineering, and granted tenure
  • Dr. Venkata Sriram Siddhardh Nadendla, promoted to associate professor of computer science and granted tenure
  • Dr. Justin Pope, promoted to associate professor of history and political science and granted tenure
  • Dr. Shun Saito, promoted to associate professor of physics and granted tenure
  • Kelly Tate, promoted to teaching professor of English and technical communication.

9 tenured S&T faculty honored

Additionally, nine faculty members were honored with the Post Tenure Review Excellence Award. This award is granted to faculty who excel in scholarship and teaching through the five-year review period after achieving tenure: The recipients are:

  • Dr. Daryl Beetner, professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Petra DeWitt, associate professor of history and political science
  • Dr. Xiaoming He, professor of mathematics and statistics
  • Dr. Ulrich Jentschura, professor of physics
  • Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani, Curators’ Distinguished Professor and Rutledge-Emerson Professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Thomas Schuman, professor of chemistry
  • Dr. Risheng Wang, associate professor of chemistry
  • Dr. Alexey Yamilov, professor of physics
  • Dr. Yanzhi Zhang, professor of mathematics and statistics.
