Mark Munsell, chief AI officer and director of data and digital innovation for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, spoke to S&T students, faculty, and staff at a presentation in April. The talk, titled “AI and the Future of Intelligence for National Security,” included a discussion about artificial intelligence’s geospatial applications and how it could be used for data analysis of photography and satellite imagery.

Munsell also answered questions from the audience about how various government agencies could use AI and automation in national security situations and crime prevention through modeling collected data, and how companies could train learning models in the future.

The talk was sponsored by Missouri S&T’s history and political science department, the Kummer Institute Center for AI and Autonomous Systems, the mechanical and aerospace engineering department, and the university’s Miner AI initiative.
