Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing held its Fall 2024 awards ceremony last week at the Havener Center, and several staff and faculty members were presented with honors.
Staff awards recognize exceptional performance among departmental staff. This year’s winners include:
Team Impact Award: Jerry Tichenor, research technical services supervisor for electrical and computer engineering
Rookie of the Year: Addie Williams, office support assistant for computer science
Student Service Award: Karen Walberg, office support assistant for mechanical and aerospace engineering
Extra Mile Award: Lurong “Dena” He, senior communications coordinator for mechanical and aerospace engineering
Loyalty Award: Joann Stiritz, senior communications coordinator for civil, architectural and environmental engineering
Peer-to-Peer Award: Rhonda Sherman, senior business support specialist for mechanical and aerospace engineering.
The Dean’s Educator Award highlights teaching excellence. This year’s award went to three professors, including:
Dr. Douglas Carroll, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
Dr. Sanjay Tewari, associate teaching professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
Dr. Kelley Wilkerson, associate teaching professor of materials science and engineering.
The Dean’s Scholar Award, which highlights scholarly excellence, went to two professors, including:
Dr. Venkata Sriram Siddhardh Nadendla, assistant professor of computer science
Dr. Jeremy Maurer, assistant professor of earth sciences and engineering.
Researchers who received patents in the past year were also recognized. They include:
Dr. Lana Alagha, Robert H. Quenon Associate Professor of Mining Engineering
Dr. Richard K. Brow, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of materials science and engineering and executive director of the Kummer Institute for Student Success, Research and Economic Development
Dr. Jonghyun Park, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
Dr. Hu Yang, the Linda and Bipin Doshi Endowed Department Chair of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
