Tickets are on sale now for the Missouri University of Science and Technology student production of the musical “Cabaret.”
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21. All performances will be in Leach Theatre in Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main streets on the Missouri S&T campus in Rolla.
“Cabaret” follows an American writer’s relationship with an English cabaret performer amidst the hedonistic nightlife at Berlin’s Kit Kat Klub. The musical is set in the twilight of the Jazz Age, with the Nazis rising to power over the course of the story. The book is written by Joe Masteroff with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
“Cabaret is one of the most important musicals of our time,” says Taylor Gruenloh, assistant professor of theatre at Missouri S&T. “It’s entertaining and endearing, but it’s also going to be relevant for all the wrong reasons. The students are excited to keep up the conversation that is the history inside this show with our community here in Rolla.”
Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for Missouri S&T faculty, staff and students with a valid S&T ID. The musical contains mature content and adult language and is recommended for audiences over the age of 17.
Tickets can be purchased starting one hour before each performance from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located inside the main entrance to Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street. Tickets can also be purchased in advance online at leachtheatre.mst.edu or by calling 573-341-4219. Service fees may apply to tickets purchased online.
