Tickets are on sale now for the Missouri S&T student production of the musical “Kinky Boots.”

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20; Friday, April 21; and Saturday, April 22; with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23. All performances will be in Leach Theatre in Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main streets on the Missouri S&T campus in Rolla.

Based on the 2005 film of the same name, “Kinky Boots” tells the story of Charlie Price, who has inherited a shoe factory on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save the family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As they work to turn the factory around, the unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they realized and discover that changing your mind can change your world. The musical’s script is by Harvey Fierstein with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper.

“Our production of ‘Kinky Boots’ is going to be a fun time,” says Taylor Gruenloh, assistant professor of theatre at Missouri S&T. “This is a big show. The dancing and singing are top notch, and the lights are going to be impressive. The students are excited to share this one with their community.”

Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for Missouri S&T faculty, staff, and students with a valid S&T ID. The musical contains mature content and adult language and is recommended for audiences over the age of 13.

Tickets can be purchased 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located inside the main entrance to Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street.
