Missouri S&T’s online master’s degree program in psychological science recently earned a top ranking from the website Forbes Advisor.
The finance-focused Forbes Advisor, which is dedicated to helping consumers make the best financial choices for their individual lives, recently picked Missouri S&T as one of its top 10 “Best Online Psychology Master’s Degrees.”
Forbes Advisor scored 45 colleges and universities that offer online programs in the United States using 17 data points in the categories of credibility (including accreditation and nonprofit status), affordability, student outcomes, student experience and cost of application fees. Specific characteristics that were considered within each category included accreditation, nonprofit status, the average price per year, financial aid offerings, Pell Grant recipient graduation rate, graduation rate and transfer-out rate.
“It comes as no surprise to me that our master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology is ranked so highly,” says Dr. Clair Reynolds Kueny, interim chair and associate professor of psychological science at S&T. “S&T students receive a strong core foundation in psychology, as well as statistics and research methods. Our program develops individuals who understand the critical role humans play in organizational success as well as how to utilize human capital and people analytics to advance organizational effectiveness and strategy, and employee development and support.”
Missouri S&T’s online master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology emphasizes the application of psychological science to enhance the performance and well-being of people in organizations. I-O psychologists develop assessments of people for selection and placement into jobs, effective training programs, strategies for organizational development, measurement of performance, and ways to promote quality of work-life.
