Four electrical and computer engineers with ties to Missouri University of Science and Technology were inducted into the Missouri S&T Academy of Electrical and Computer Engineering during the academy’s induction ceremony, which was held Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Comfort Suites Conference Center.

Founded in 1980, The academy is a departmental advisory group composed of alumni and other electrical and computer engineers who have made outstanding contributions to their profession. The new inductees were recognized for their service and leadership in electrical and computer engineering.

New members are listed below

Paul Baldetti, a private investor from Powell, Ohio, earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1981. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1983. Baldetti began his career as a productivity consultant at Emerson Electric World Headquarters, then in 1985 joined Therm-o-Disc Inc. as marketing director. In 1988, he was named president of Burks Pumps, where he served until joining Crane Pumps and Systems in 1994. Baldetti also served as president at Crane Valves, Crain Fluid Handling, ITT Industrial Pump Group, Garlock Sealing Technologies and CPS Products Inc., as well as serving two years as CEO of Tyden Group. He has served on the boards of the Hydraulic Institute, the Valve Manufacturers Association and the Fluid Sealing Association.

Dr. Daryl G. Beetner, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri, earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1990 then earned master of science and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Beetner began his career as an industrial automation engineering consultant for Digi-Gear Systems, then left industry for academia, serving as visiting faculty in electrical engineering at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He joined Missouri S&T as assistant professor of electrical engineering in 1998, was promoted to associate professor in 2004 and to professor in 2010. Beetner also served as associate chair of computer engineering and department chair for six years. In 2021, he was the inaugural recipient of the S&T Staff Council’s Outstanding Faculty Award. Other achievements include the IEEE EMC Society Technical Achievement Award, the Richard B. Schultze Best Transaction Paper Award, the S&T Faculty Excellence Award and the C. Holmes MacDonald Outstanding Young Electrical Engineering Professor. He has held leadership positions in IEEE, the IEEE EMC Society, the Central States Department Heads Association and the University of Missouri Research Board.

Daniel A. Dziedzic of St. Charles, Missouri, retired solutions integration and implementation manager for Amdocs, earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1983. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis in 1990. Dziedzic began his career as an engineer with Shell Mining Co. In 1985, he moved to Southwestern Bell Telephone, serving as manager of engineering, planning and design; as well as construction. Then served as manager of special services and installation and repair for SBC Communications. In 1999, Dziedzic was named program manager for information technology for SBC Services, where he also served as technical director and senior technical director before joining AT&T Services in 2005 as a senior technical director. In 2008, he joined Amdocs as development manager and in 2015, he was named solutions integration and implementation manager. He retired in 2018. During his career, Dziedzic was a registered Professional Engineer and was active in IEEE, IEEE Communications Society, MSTE and MSPE. He is an alumni advisor for Phi Kappa Theta and a director-at-large for the Miner Alumni Association, and has held advisory positions with the Order of Cardinal Mercier, the Academy of the Sacred Heart and Boy Scouts of America.

Warren R. Kohm of St. Louis, director of operations for industrial and facility infrastructure with Ross & Baruzzini, earned bachelor of science and master of science degrees in electrical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1993 and 1997, respectively. Kohm began his career in MEP plan review for the St. Louis County public works department. In 1998, he moved to A.P. O’Brien Engineering as a manager of electrical engineering, and a year later moved to Briner Electric, where he served as a design-build project director. In 2004, Kohm moved to Ross & Baruzzini as a senior engineer, then was named assistant director of electrical engineering in 2011 and director of industrial and facility infrastructure operations in 2019. He is a member of the Missouri and Illinois electrical board of directors and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Iowa and Florida.
