Missouri S&T will postpone its spring commencement ceremonies to a date to be determined, Chancellor Mo Dehghani announced today (Thursday, April 2).
“The growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 are simply too great to ignore, and we all must protect the most vulnerable members of our Missouri S&T community,” Dehghani said in an email to May graduation candidates.
“This has been an incredibly difficult decision,” Dehghani added, “but this historic moment in time demands that we put the protection and safety of our students and their families first.”
Dehghani added that S&T will hold some type of virtual celebration in May.
Last month, Missouri S&T moved all courses online as the majority of students departed campus to continue their studies remotely to help address the COVID-19 public health emergency. Most faculty and staff also are working remotely except for those needed on campus to ensure that essential operations and research continue.
Along with Missouri S&T, the other University of Missouri System campuses in Columbia, Kansas City and St. Louis are also postponing commencement ceremonies.
Do you know when the reschedule date is for the Spring 2020 Graduates. They definitely deserve recognition .
