Local residents who enjoy learning about other cultures are invited to connect with Missouri S&T’s international community through the university’s International Friends Program.
The program brings together international students and community members to share meals, conversation and their respective cultures. Meetings are typically held once a month, but times and activities are based on the availability of both parties. Participants are not asked to provide housing or assist the students financially.
Missouri S&T’s International Friends Program will introduce students and community members at a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in S&T’s Southwestern Bell Cultural Center, located at 1207 N. Elm St. in Rolla.
Community friends can help international students understand the American way of life by offering cultural assistance in shopping, dining at a local restaurant or attending community events. Participants generally meet at least once a month in local homes or at special community functions. There is no cost to participate in the International Friends program.
Prospective participants are asked to fill out and return a questionnaire by Sunday, Oct. 28. The form is available by request from Richie Myers, at myersrj@mst.edu.
