Leach Theatre will host a performance of the Grammy Award-nominated female a capella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock as a part of the 2017-18 Campus Performing Arts Series at Missouri S&T this month.
The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Leach Theatre in Castleman Hall.
Rooted in African American history and culture, Sweet Honey in the Rock is known for mixing a cappella, world, gospel, and folk roots with elements of hip hop, jazz, and rhythm and blues. Sweet Honey in the Rock consists of members Carol Millard, Louise Robinson, Nitanju Bolade Casel and Aisha Kahlil, with Romeir Mendez on the upright acoustic and electric basses.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for youth and can be purchased through the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the vestibule inside the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street. The Leach Theatre Box Office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased online at leachtheatre.mst.edu.
The Feb. 22 performance of Sweet Honey in the Rock will include sign-language interpretation and is sponsored by Acar Real Estate, Phelps County Focus and in part from James and Vera Olson Fun for the Arts.
