The area community is invited to attend an artist reception to view a collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures by selected Missouri University of Science and Technology students and vote for a favorite piece of artwork.
The Art in the Library reception will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Curtis Laws Wilson Library on the S&T campus. The event, which is free and open to the public, will allow visitors to learn more about the various artists’ intentions behind their pieces. The art works will be placed on display on the second floor of the library beginning Monday, Oct. 23, and will remain up throughout the semester, which ends in December.
“A broad range of mediums are represented, including stained glass, acrylics, oils, mixed media and digital art,” says Roger Weaver, chair of the Art in the Library Committee at Missouri S&T. “Visitors can vote for their favorite piece by visiting the library’s website, and the winner will take home the People’s Choice Award.”
Visitors can cast their vote at library.mst.edu. Prizes will also be awarded for Best of Show and Honorable Mention. Judging will be conducted by members of the Art in the Library Committee.
This is the fourth semester the library has hosted the Art in the Library display. View past exhibits online at scholarsmine.mst.edu/libexhibit.
Student Art in the Library is sponsored by the library and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business at Missouri S&T.
