The Celebration of Nations committee at Missouri University of Science and Technology will host a 5K color run and walk this August to support the upcoming Celebration of Nations event.
The color run will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Ber Juan Park Upper Pavilion in Rolla, located near 14th Street next to the Splash Zone. Interested participants can register online at celebrationofnations.itsyourrace.com. Race-day registration will begin at 8 a.m.
As runners and walkers traverse the course, various dye powders will be tossed at them to decorate their clothes. The powder will be dyed cornstarch, which is completely non-toxic and environmentally safe.
Awards will be given out to the fastest team, largest team and most colorful team, as well as to fastest male and female runners in the following age ranges: 12 years and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 59, and 60 and over.
The registration fee is $25 per person and the first 100 registered attendees will receive a free T-shirt. Participants can enter as a team and a minimum of three runners per team is required. Race packet pickup for pre-registration will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the Public House Brewery Company, located at 600 N. Rolla Street in Rolla.
Proceeds from the color run will benefit the Celebration of Nations event, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 30. The Celebration of Nations event is organized by the international and cultural affairs office at Missouri S&T.
