Leach Theatre to host Frank Almond’s ‘A Violin’s Life’

World-renowned violinist Frank Almond will present “A Violin’s Life,” a performance of classical music, as a part of the 2016-17 Campus Performing Arts Series at Missouri University of Science and Technology next month.

The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for youth and S&T students with a valid ID and can be purchased through the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the vestibule inside the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street. The Leach Theatre Box Office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“A Violin’s Life” features Frank Almond playing a 300-year-old Lipinski violin. Almond, who is concertmaster chair of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, will perform a variety of classical pieces to showcase the violin’s storied past. He will also perform a series of solo pieces.

Almond is celebrating his 20th anniversary with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He also served as concertmaster or guest concertmaster for both the Rotterdam and London Philharmonics.

“A Violin’s Life” is sponsored Bob and Susan Hooper, Kaleidoscope Weekly, Drs. Ed and Barbara Hale, and Brewer Science.
