Missouri University of Science and Technology’s choirs, Concert Band and Orchestra will present their holiday concert Friday, Dec. 2, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for the public and free for Missouri S&T students with a valid student ID and youth age 18 and younger. Tickets are available from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located in the vestibule inside the main entrance to Leach Theatre, facing 10th Street. The Leach Theatre Box Office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The concert will begin with a performance by the Missouri S&T choirs. The choirs will perform “Five-Sided S’vivon” by Robert Applebaum and “Angels in Heaven” by Philip Kern. The choir portion of the concert will conclude with the S&T Men’s Chorus performing “Good News!” by Jay Althouse.
The S&T Concert Band will then take the stage to perform “Fantasia on a 13th Century Carol” by James L. Hosay and “Holiday Celebration” by Larry McTaggart.
The concert will conclude with the S&T Symphony Orchestra performing Symphony No. 7 in A Major, movement II “Allegretto,” by Ludwig van Beethoven and the “Hallelujah Chorus” from The Messiah by George Frederick Handel. On the “Hallelujah Chorus,” the audience will be invited to sing along with the orchestra.
The concert will be conducted by Lorie Francis and Dave Cress, assistant teaching professors in arts, languages, and philosophy at Missouri S&T.
