The area community is invited to attend an artist reception to view paintings, drawings and sculptures by over 50 Missouri University of Science and Technology students and vote for a favorite piece of artwork.

An artist reception will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Curtis Laws Wilson Library, to allow visitors to learn more about the various artists’ intentions behind their pieces. The event is free and open to the public. The art works are currently displayed on the second floor of the library and will remain up until Friday, Dec. 2.

“This is the second semester in a row the library has hosted a student art display of this scale,” says Roger Weaver, chair of the Art in the Library committee at Missouri S&T. “We have built on the success of spring semester exhibit and hope to keep up momentum. It is great to show off the students’ hard work and talent, especially when the students themselves are willing to be at the reception and answer questions about their work and motivation.”

Library visitors can vote now until Monday, Oct. 31, for their favorite piece of artwork. The artist with the most votes will receive the People’s Choice award and a prize of $100. The Library Art Committee will also award a Best of Show prize of $200 and an Honorable Mention prize of $50 to two artists.
