Model recycled fashions, pet animals at a petting zoo and watch a Missouri University of Science and Technology student dance show as you learn about the benefits of going ‘green’ during the 15th annual Rolla Earth Day celebration at Missouri S&T on Friday, April 22. All events are free and open to the public.
Throughout the day, visitors can stop by a petting zoo, and visit educational booths hosted by area and campus organizations on the lawn of the Havener Center. During the celebration, Missouri S&T’s eBus will be available to shuttle visitors from the Havener Center to the Solar Village for tours. Youth educational events will begin at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the Havener Center on the Missouri S&T campus.
At 10 a.m., a showing of Disney Pixar’s “WALL-E” will be held in St. Pat’s Ballroom C in the Havener Center.
At 11 a.m., a recycled fashion show will be held on the Havener Center lawn. Members of the campus community will create articles of clothing or accessories from recycled materials. Participants can model their creations themselves or have someone else model them. Some recyclables will be available before the fashion show for Earth Day visitors to create an outfit to enter in the fashion show. A panel of judges will determine the winners and award prizes.
At noon, “The Lorax” will be screened in St. Pat’s Ballroom C in the Havener Center.
At 12:30 p.m., S&T student dance groups will perform in a dancing show. During the show, Earth Day visitors will be able to join in and dance with the S&T students.
The 2016 Earth Day celebration at S&T is co-hosted by Blue Key Honor Society and the Earth Day Committee. For details about exhibiting at Earth Day or bringing your group to the event, contact Kevin Bruns, Earth Day coordinator, at kmbhdc@mst.edu.
