Students from around the world will share their cultures during International Students Day at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
The celebration will be held 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in the Havener Center on the Missouri S&T campus. It will include a cultural exhibition, performances and a dinner of international foods. This event is open to the public.
The cultural exhibition will begin at 3 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to view authentic clothing, jewelry, paintings and other items of significance to cultures from all over the world. This portion of the celebration is free and open to the public.
The cultural show will be held 4-6 p.m. in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center and will feature authentic cultural dances and musical performances.
The international dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in the food court of the Havener Center. Six meals from different countries and dessert will be served, as well as vegetarian and halal options.
Tickets for the cultural show and dinner are $12 for non-members of the International Student Club and $10 for members. Tickets are available for purchase in the Havener Center atrium from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day leading up to the event.
The International Student Club organizes and promotes cultural awareness and social activities for its members and the community. The club is made up of Missouri S&T students from more than 65 countries.
The African Student Association, Saudi Student Association, Turkish Student Association, Iranian Student Association, Sri Lankan Student Association, Indian Student Association, and Malaysian Student Association, the Chinese Student and Scholars Association, and Miner Hip Hop will help co-host the event.
The celebration is sponsored in part by the office of international and cultural affairs and the Diversity Leadership Council.
