The Rolla community is invited to join an open panel discussion titled “Building Bridges: A Culture of Respect” at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Community members and students can learn more about local culture and about each other in a mediated setting.
The event will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall on the campus of Missouri S&T. This will be a discussion with themes and topics that students from Missouri S&T have submitted.
Students can learn about resources that are available to help them deal with various situations, know that the community and campus care about them, and be able to better connect with the community.
The panel consists of the following campus and community leaders:
— Shenethia Manuel, vice chancellor for human resources, equity and inclusion, Title IX coordinator, and chief diversity officer at S&T
— Oscar Kemp, lieutenant in the S&T police department
— Dr. Patti Fleck, director of counseling, disability support and student wellness at S&T
— Dr. Rebecca Crosthwait, recent cultural anthropology graduate of the University of Kansas and senior academic advisor for business and information technology at S&T
— John D. Beger, circuit judge, division two
— Dr. Jessica Cundiff, an assistant professor of psychological science at S&T
— Andrew Careaga, executive director of marketing and communications at S&T
— Adam McMikle, student council president and senior student ambassador at S&T
— Malick Ndiaye, International Student Club president, African Student Association representative, Diversity Leadership Council representative and Student Union Board member at S&T.
