Ring in the holiday season with the Grinch this month at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the third film in the Leach Theatre Family Film Series, begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in Leach Theatre, located in Missouri S&T’s Castleman Hall at 10th and Main streets in Rolla. Multiple showings of the 26-minute cartoon will take place until 1:30 p.m. that day. Tickets are $3 and will be available for purchase at the Leach Theatre Box Office at 10 a.m. the day of the show.
The cartoon film, released in 1966 by Cat in the Hat Productions, is based on the Dr. Seuss book of the same name. A grumpy hermit, the Grinch, plots to steal Christmas from the Whos of Whoville. Despite his misdeeds, the Whos still have a happy holiday, and help the Grinch learn the true meaning of Christmas.
Lunch, including a main dish, side and drink, will be available for purchase for $4 in the lobby of Leach Theatre after the film. Lunch tickets are $3 if purchased in advance. A special craft project will be available for $1. Other crafts and coloring sheets will be available for free. Santa Claus will also visit and give children the chance to tell him their Christmas wish-list.
Santa’s Workshop will be open 11:15 a.m.-2 p.m. and will give children the opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends for $1.50 each.
