The local community can watch a parade, celebrate the 50th anniversary of the computer science department and cheer the Miner football team to victory as part of Missouri University of Science and Technology’s 2015 Homecoming celebration, held Oct. 23-24. This year’s theme is “MinerFest,” a fall festival event.

Friday, Oct. 23
Homecoming registration, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Hasselmann Alumni House, located at the corner of 11th and Pine streets.
Alumni Association Miner Legends Luncheon, noon-1:30 p.m., Hasselmann Alumni House. Some of S&T’s most distinguished alumni will be recognized. Tickets are required.
Computer Science Golden Jubilee Speaker Series launch, 3 p.m., Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall. Missouri S&T is hosting a Golden Jubilee to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the computer science program, the first of its kind the state. The event’s keynote speaker will be Tan Le, founder and CEO of Emotiv Lifesciences. See more details online at cs.mst.edu/50years.

Hackathon for Humanity project video, 4:15 p.m., Leach Theatre. Teams were given 19 days to create a mobile app for iOS or Android or a web app that is beneficial to society. This event will feature video highlights and results of the competition, which ran Sept. 3-21.
Silver and Gold Gathering, 5-8 p.m., Hasselmann Alumni House. Social Hour starts at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are required.
Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on African-American Recruitment and Retention alumni and student mixer, 6:30-9 p.m. Student Diversity, Outreach and Women’s Programs will host the event at its offices located at 605 W. 11th St.
Saturday, Oct. 24
Slide rule demonstration and team competition, 9 a.m., Havener Center. Bring your slide rule and show off your calculation skills.
Homecoming parade, 10 a.m., beginning on State Street near the Havener Center and ending at the corner of 12th and Pine streets. The full parade route can be found online at homecoming.mst.edu.
Homecoming parent meeting and reception, 10 a.m., St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center.
Kummer Student Design Center open house, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., located at 1051 N. Bishop Ave. Meet the director and tour the facility.
